    Dimas,
is there a sure way to tell an original? How should this look like on the reverse side? I am eager to learn the facts.
Here are two examples of originals:

First, is an (rough condition) example made from tin belonging to me.

Second is made from stamped brass that belongs to a Russian colleague.

I also own a brass example, but it very similar as my Russian colleague's. Unfortunately, it is missing both attaching prongs, so there is no need to show it.

    These are very, very rare...

That star was also discussed here: Hammer & Plow Red Star Cockade - The Soviet Military Awards Page Forum

However, as I have a passion for cockardes, I decided to inquire about it here: Çâåçäà Êîêàðäà - 1918r - Ôîðóì âîåííûõ êîëëåêöèîíåðîâ - "WW2"

I do not fully agree with the general consensus on the Russian forum, as I do like it because it shows what seems to be genuine age and wear. However, Den seems pretty sharp when it comes to these...

    So,

Thanks for the links and close-ups! The details of original pieces help a lot. There is such an abundance of fakes around that it is so difficult to find a reliable reference at all.

I would hate to be stupid enough to drop $2000.00 on a Budy whether it was real or not. If you had that much money, I would suggest making a down payment on a Marshals hat or something collectable.

I really can not remember exactly... At a collector's meeting in Simferopol, or Sevastopol is the most possible.

    Why do you ask?

Just because it is so rare.
