Hello I don't know if this is in the right place but I bought a helmet at a local garage sale. It was only a couple bucks but I didn't quit know what it was. Here are som pretty poor photos but was wondering if anyone might be able to help me identifiy it. It has three rivets attaching the liner to the helmet and then the stamp on the inside with the Crossed swords and 54 next to it. Then underneath is a larger #2

Thank you all for your time and comments

excuse the american judgement... the cross swords could possibly be regimental insignia linked with the 2, i'm also guessing that the 54 is the hat size in centimeters indicating that it is euro.

As far as I know American M1's don't have the leather suspension system this helmet has. I have an M1 and it is comprised of the liner with suspension system and the steel shell. The one pictured above has the suspension system right in the steel shell.

I have seen a rare few that have leather suspension... especially the british helms

I was thinking they were talking about the M1 steel helm. Standard US military helmet. They do on occasion have some leather but nothing similiar to what the one pictured has.

As pawlito specified earlier it is clearly an M53 czech postwar helmet. I have an M53 also.
