well done on finding a nice example mads nice to see it with the original chinstrap tooi seem to be in the minority of people who actually find these very pleasing to the eye, its also nice to see a legible number stamp ,as others have stated it looks like its had a heavy coating of oil ,im sure if your patient it will become less apparent over time but if it troubles you i suppose you could sparingly use a mild solvent based degreaser but wether this would remove any remaining paint im not sure but if it was me id leave it be and put it on display in a stable environment ,thanks for showing ,james

Thanks guys.
James, actually the oil bothers me a bit, but Im also scared to damage the paint if I try, so I will just leave it for now.
i wouldnt worry mads ,really what harm can oil do apart from inhibit further corrosion which is why the prevous owner did this ,lets just focus more on what a real nice helmet it is ,again well done on finding a nice example
Regards James
A very nice helmet indeed Mads as to removing the oil you might try giving it a bath in a little dish soap and water this may help some with out causing damage to the finish.
Regards Mark
Thanks Mark, maybe I give it a go tomorrow.
