A recent acquisition; Seems to be fabricated from US Lend-Lease mustard wool. IMO, star-cockarde is without a doubt, early to mid 1940X make.

I am almost certain that this is wartime/early postwar made, but I am having difficulty deciphering the stamp.

Dim, have you even seen such a stamp?

Hi Richie, I cannot make it out either. But I have heard of the tip Dimas mentioned.

Get a hand pumped water sprayer, like people use for house plants, to apply a mist of water to the leaves. This will not soak the cap, but will sometimes allow ink to become more readable. This method works on WW2 British berets.

    Cheers, Ade.

Pierre & Stalingrad (To the latter: Do you have a proper first name we all can properly address you by?): thanks for the compliments.
It was a simple blind purchase that yielded something unique to my collection. I do indeed find it quite nice...

Also, thanks to you Dim and Ade. I never thought of "The Wet Look"...

Here I show it (does it help in any way?). I know that everybody's computer monitor shows a different image compared to the original...
