    Not sure these were ever "issue" items. This series of photos of officers fighting in the east against Japan, from which your example is taken, is the only photos known of such covers. My opinion these were field made from cut up trousers or smocks.

    Can't say if this is real or not, but I am highly skeptical as fakes are on the market. The one shown below is PROBABLY one of these as it is from one of our favorite eBay sellers

    Personally, I do not like the amount of bleed through showing on the half that has had the printed side facing the wrong way. Early amoeba suits tend to show nearly 100% bleed through to the other side.

    Anyone have more to offer on these?

    Not really... mainly because it has never been clearly established that a factory made example was ever issued to begin with.

    I'd love for the posted example to prove real as much as anyone, but again I have doubts.
