What puts me off this cap is the plastic insignia, buttons and brim. The hat itself is made quite well - Is this a toy hat?

Hi ,
officer field 69 /91 , this one is manufactured by Ladoga factory / Leningrad in the mid 80's
Great knowledge! Thanks again Dom!
Yep, definately not a toy!
Believe it or not they used to wear these in the field along with tunic, breeches with long boots and a Sam Browne belt. This was during my time "facing off" with the Warsaw Pact in the early '80s. Truly modern and stylish they were!!
I have such a uniform somewhere in my boxes, I must dig it out.
Regards
Mark

Cheers Mark - Very interesting!
Yeh I would not have guessed it to be an actual field cap.
I'll love to see that uniform mate!
All the best
