Tankist - perhaps late 40s? Made by Karl Berger. I especially like the German style chinstrap.

The star to me seems 50s Soviet made.
    G'day Richie
In my reference (books are not always perfect) "The collectors guide to cloth third reich military head gear"by Gary Wilkins- Karl Berger is not present and maybe didn't make Nazi head gear during WW2
This is a great collection here and not found easily down south should I come across any of these I would snap them up

    Thanks

Richie, great thread, and I would love to own the examples posted.
I am surprised to see the 1950-dated Lubstein--I thought they had become "Emhage" by then. I cannot help you on the unmarked examples, although they do exhibit German traits.

Regarding Berger, I have not heard of him, but I will check my files to see what I can come up with.

A few TR Haberdashers did continue to market under their own name on into the 1960's, but made hats for the DDR. Among these were Richard Lotze of Leipzig, and Otto Dittmann of Dresden. I am sure there were others that will turn up.

    Many thanks...

I have a 1952r dated Lubstein floating around somewhere. I can not seem to find the damn thing though...

As for Berger, it would be quite interesting to me just to find out a little something about the firm. Perhaps he was a just small shop with a bigwig type label?
