russian mig fighter helmet

Article about: Got this really dirt cheap (\\$32)and was wondering if it is Russian or China, it has a km-32 oxygen mask so I was leaning towards Russia, what's your guys thoughts

    The older Navy helmets such as the APH-5, circa late 50's - early 60's, came issued with a reflective gold paint applied to the whole helmet. Often a bit of reflective taping was applied over this as well.

    I guess the taping was so effective that the gold paint job was dropped with the later APH-6(mid to late 60's). They were issued standard white, and generally speaking, pilots applied their own individual taping patterns.

    This APH-6D of mine has had almost the entire shell covered with white reflective tape, much like chevyfan's SPH-4 in this thread. It has a minimal amount of red tape over that.

    As another example, this APH-6A has intermittant red and white tape applied.

    From what I gather talking to people, there was a bit of skill involved to do a good tape job.
