I bought a repro budenovka for a display, and I was wondering, did they typically have the hat badge on them or without? What was the standard for the military?
Thanks in advance

It should always have a cloth backing to the star in arm of service colours then the cap badge on this.
Cheers, Ade.
A reproduction of what model is it? Or, if you are unsure, and able to show an image, that would indeed be a plus to exactly pinpoint what type of star might be proper - if any.
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
I know these were used before the GPW, so I'm not too concerned if indeed that's when they began using the hat badges on them, but here is a picture of it. I bought it off of Amazon just for a repro piece to display.
hi! I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is a very bad forgery, in Russia such budennovki sold as souvenirs to tourists ...
OMG NO!
Just kidding. It was cheap. I just wanted to spice up my display. I bought it off of amazon.
I wish it was genuine!
Thank you for the replies, though : )
So, if you are planning just buy a display item- I suggest to buy a museum copy, but not a ugly-funny item, which will destroy all the look of your display. That budionovka has nothing similar to the period headgear... Sorry

Where is a good source to purchase a good reproduction Budenovka? I don't trust a lot of the ones I see from "google" and the lot on eBay aren't very different : (
Anyone?
I can't say you where to get one good copy of budionovka, but I can ask, probably I can help you. But proper copy would cost approx 70 usd, as thay was for sale at this price in Russia in past , they was made for reenactors
