    Very interesting indeed. I have also seen on this site M36 helmets that have been given black paint camouflage, would this ever have been done in a factory do you think?
    Cheers!

    Thank you Dimas for clearing that question up for me. Have you seen many examples of camo painted helmets by soldiers? I wonder what pattern the soldiers would paint on their helmets?
    Cheers!

    Could the M40 with the two rows of Rivets be a CSSR vz52 Helmet?, it has blank Soviet Liner Rivets and added CSSR Liner Rivets. It is the Lid the Soviet Union produced for them before the CSSR made its own vz53 Helmet.

    As a side line there is an Image ( in the Historical Documents) of A German Officer with a PPSh41 in, it says Stalingrad with a Red Army Amoeba Camouflage material on his Lid..

    He likely later paid for this Crime in Blood...

    I use Mud and a hand made String net for Local improvement of my Personal Camouflage... that is in the Historical Documentation.

    I don't know nothing about Czechoslovakian helmets.
    But for sure the mud is a real camo, it' s simply no time to clean uniforms and helmets, I don' t think that the Soviets don't made it especially as a camo...
    But other opinions would be appreciated

    I was just sitting here wondering why the Soviets didn't use more camouflage. I can possibly see the command level not making time for it, but I would expect to see a lot more at a "grunts" level. Your right, in period photos everything is plain, even the tanks. (with exceptions of course)

    Side note;
    I seem to remember that on D-Day, some of the first pathfinders wore some of the first American camouflaged uniforms, they got rid of them within a couple days because other Allied troop were always shooting at them! Many of the elite German units were wearing camo so the main Allied forces were shooting at anyone in camouflage.
