The top is maroon with black piping. I am inable to read any markings in the cap.
The front flap folds down and is held, in place, by two hook and eye fittings on either side.

Concerning the markings on the liner it looks to me more like a postwar stampings. howewer the top of the cap construction looks good to me. It is a really rare item to make a decission, even I have newer owned a real example, but eximined a couple of times. The fur looks like natural, but on the original example with that kind of markings it most be a fake fur. The cap must be hand inspected...
