Ssch 40 war time or not?

Article about: Dear All, What would you say, is it a war time production helmet? There are no stamps apart from X-2 number pressed into the hull. Please let me know what you think. Thanks a lot! Regards, E

Also on the outside col james. It have been painted over at some time. The Soviets however used WW2 helmets way into the 1950's. It might just be a reissued helmet fitted with a newer liner and strap.

As I can see from the pictures there is a star stamp (rusty). The paint looks like war type indeed, but i wounder whether they will take the hassle to refurbish it instead of getting a new one..

its a puzzler the shell looks to have ww2 period soviet green on the inside shell but the liner flaps appear to be vinyl like the more modern soviet ssh 68 i wonder if the hungarians used soviet shells postwar before they produced the m50 does it have a star stamp under the front rim i cant tell from the pics

I would think the Soviets had spent a lot of steel during the war, so recycling makes sense. After all it's only 3 rivets, a new liner and a coat of paint

It works the same as the German Waa stam: official approval of inspection and acceptance by the red army, sort of quality seal, if you can say that.
