i have a black ssh36 with a red star, i got it from a finnish girl friend,she said her father killed the man wearing it in the russo- finnish war,it was a freebee.my question is why black?..someone else on this site had a black one also..this is not a german re issue.sorry i have pics, im trying to figure out how to post....any info.

and also the liner in the helmet if it has one. I see some chinstraps.

Star is atypical and the blistering of the paint is strange. GIven the amount of surface rust and missing paint on the interior, I would tend to believe that this shell was poorly stored and repainted postwar as a result.
