Ssh 39

Hello dear collectors,

I've been interested in russian helmets for a long time, but now I actually bought one. It is an Ssh39 in good condition.
The buyer told me that it was sent home during the war by a german soldier, together with a dagger/sword and a tunic of a sovjet major.

I'd like to get to know more about the stamps that are present, because on the internet information on stamps is dubious..

I discovered another stamp, it seems to be the russian 'Ч'...

Hello Jef and Welcome to the forum. This is the beautiful SSch-39, late type without the frontal star, ЛМЗ LMZ stampings means Lysva Metall Factory ( Лысьвенский металлургический завод ) in size 2 a, which is 56 size.
But I don't believe about the dagger, soviet officers does not have them in the field positions

-I've been researching the meaning of the stamps a little bit. This is what I found this far:

LMZ (ЛМЗ) stands for Лысьвенский металлургический завод ( Lysva Metall Factory ) thanks Dimas

It is a size 2a ( Р(ост) 2a) , the liner is a size '58'.

There is '2 5123' stamped in the metal of the shell. '2' is an indication of the size of the shell. '5123' is the 'Lotnummer' (in german), like a manufacture inventory number.

-The two other stamps, I'm not so sure about, please correct me if I'm wrong..

The number 76 in the star means that the helmet was built for the russian soviet army. ( some say that this star with a number in it is a mark of restoration by a factory?)

The stamp '755' refers to the part/department of the factory, where the helmet was made (??)

Is this a good analysis of the stamps?

You are sure, the size 2 is for 56-58, the letter "a" is not described in any of the sources.
Shell stampings 2 is size, 5123 butch number. The number 76 is approval stamp ( like Abnehmbar Stempel in German helmets) 755 the painter's batch/shift stamping
