    Default SSH-39 with fieldrepaired chinstrap

    Hello experts
    here were my new jewel
This is made from LMZ in 1941 without interior and the chinstrap seem that it was repaired with a piece of leather at the front ,the other part is in half good condition
It is in size P-3 the largest size
I once read that the removal of the liner was made to be able to wear the cap under the helmet in the Cold russian winter
but i dont know if it was true
How much would this helmet be worth?
Is it a good example or a piece of junk
What mean the experts to this great example of history
    Im thankful for all Posts

    Greetings
    Bavarian

Can't comment on originality. Can however say that the forum is not about appraisals but to discuss the items themselves.

My untrained eye thinks this is a good helmet so I am looking forward to hear from the experienced collectors about originality.

Bavarian, it’s an original Ssh-39 shell. With the liner missing and the weird chinstrap I wouldn’t call it a “good” example, but it’s not a piece of junk either, somewhere in the middle. That ink stamp is key and by itself makes that helmet a keeper. Kevin

    Hello
I bought this „rare“ helmet for 45€ on the fleemarked
Im think the condition is good for that and I am never seen a fieldrepaired chinstrap on this helmettype before
    Regards
