    By construction this is a blockade helmet. Note the inside and the rivets.

    the chinstrap doesn't look painted. i'm concerned with the white paint, is it period?

    you don't think the red/fresh rust is suspicious?

    Red rust could be from recent poor storage and not because the finish is recent.
    The 'redness' is on the buckle and strap too. I'd say it got damp.

    thanks. i'm still concerned from seeing many German winters disqualified just for that kind of fresh rust... now get some sleep man
