    here is my other postwar russian helmet from the fleemarket
    The seller said ist from the afganistan war
    the liner is like it from my ssh-60 helmet that i shared
    It is stamped with P-1
    And many more stamps were on the helmet
    But unfornately it was painted with edding
    I hope someone can help me with this helmet

    And of course the USSR forces were in Afghanistan 1979 - 1989 so yes this is an Afghan period helmet but it is in mint condition and looks unissued. It certainly has never been in the "Sandpit".

    I would say the "Born to kill" and peace symbol are totally spurious and clearly influenced by the posters for the Stanley Kubrick movie "Full Metal Jacket" (1987). Still a collectible helmet just remove the childish graffiti with nail polish remover.
