At first I was in agreement with Ade, however on second look I am not so certain. The helmet in the photo sure looks like it has a rolled edge around the perimeter of the flare. That is not a characteristic of the Leningrad made helmets of this style that I have seen. Maybe there was more than one version... Possibly there is more to the history of this style of helmet than we presently realize. Thanks for posting.

Is it possible that the Soviets had access to British, or U.S. dough boy helmets from the WWI era incursions?

I can't see the Soviets just trashing them, after all, they did use the model 1915 Adrian style, and the model 1917 Sohlberg helmets left over from the Tsarist regime.

...and they used some model 1926 Adrian helmets brought back from the Spanish Civil War, by Red Army "volunteers".

This helmet made on the simplified technology in blockade Leningrad. Unfortunately the archival information isn't present in an easy approach, therefore there is no accurate nomenclature concerning model (article) of the given helmet. Using a slang collectors call this helmet "tarelka" ("plate") because of its characteristic form.

It is very interesting that it not a helmet only for civil services in a wartime. It was real a fighting helmet. Many defenders of Leningrad were at war in these helmets. Thereupon these helmets periodically dig out selectors on the former fields of battles about Leningrad.
Here one more, in my opinion, very interesting photo.

If somebody was in Leningrad (now again St.-Petersburg) easily learns this place on a background.
I hope that photos will be pleasant to you.
