I just picked up this enlisted overseas cap. it is dated 1941, but appears unworn. I find that a bit surprising and just wish to make sure I bought an original period overseas cap.

I also have one of these, and believe it is 100% legitimate. However, I think the star on this one is 1950s. Mine came with a the same star when I first acquired it.
In any case, Dave Webster procured a few bales (yes, bales! - of ten pcs) during one of his many Moscow buying trips in the early 1990s.
The pea-green fabric did exist during those times, and I have seen and own gymnasterka made from it.
