1940 - Year of Change - 2 Heer buckles & belts.

Hi Chaps, I thought I'd post my 2 buckle sets from 1940 that show the change over from aluminium to steel.

The aluminium buckle is made by Dr. Franke & Co, Ludenscheid with a tab dated 1940 (sadly a bit roughed up; but I think you can see it in the photo). It's on a belt made by Stecner, Frieberg, dated 1940 with a alu catch made by GHO (in the triangle maker mark).

The steel buckle is made by E. Schneider, Ludenscheid with a tab dated 1940 & also dated 1940 on the buckle body by the catch in their ESL logo. It's on a belt made by Joseph Moll, Goch, dated 1939 with a steel catch dated 1940 with a unclear maker mark.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! I have a '40 dated Gustav Brehmer pebbled heer (my nicest) and also a steel Wien '40 dated buckle. It's always nice to have one of each for the 1940 period of transition!

Thanks Rob, yeah I really like the '40 dated buckles especially the aluminium ones. In Nash's book he says that nobody has seen one!! Another reason I like them!! Cheers, Richard.

I don't recall seeing that statement in the Nahs book! I'll have to go and look it up! Too funny.....Well, there are at least two '40 dated pebbled heers that put that theory to rest! LOL!
