Default De-nazified allu heer, front re-painted?

    Hi guys,

I picked up this denazified heer buckle with tab, R.S & S. maker marked and same maker leather tab, dated 1939. Appears original paint inside, however I was just wondering about the paint on the front. The adler has been well buffed away, looks like on a belt sander, and the paint seems like it's done properly. It's not a modern collector with a rattle can.

I'm just wondering, anyone seen any post war re-used buckles in this colour? It looks like the grey used on NVA buckles?

I had originally thought about removing front paint, as I presumed done by a collector, although why would they do this????? If it's part of it's re-issue then the paint should really stay....

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Lenny

Yes, just had the niggly thought it looked like NVA. I know it is denazified, but at 20 it was worth it in my mind.

BTW, do us pair seem to live in this area of the forum???

Well, I see it as part of history. After the war this happened, and would really like to know who reused it. I find that kinda interesting, the period after the war right up till the cold war. I visited Berlin recently and am fascinated by the former East Germany, the NVA and the whole cold war, stasi thing....

The paint is similar to this paint on a JFS buckle, probably not the same though

Weird one Ben, I had originally thought about removing front paint but I reckon I'll just leave it. In my mind, it's a bit like helmets being made into collanders etc. It's part of the history....

Nice denatzied buckle with tab I think I agree with you would leave it unless you wanted the original Aluminum color. JMO timothy
