For anyone who might be interested, here is my latest buckle.

It's an aluminum Heer buckle, dated 1937 on the tab, by maker SRM, which I understand stands for Schmiedeberg i/Rsgb Mettalwarenfabrik . As far as I can trace, Schmiedeberg i/Rsgb (Schmiedeberg im Riesengebirge) was in the German part of Lower Silesia (now part of Poland and called Kowary).

Nice buckle and a hard maker to get hold of! Shame its been denazified Funny thing I have seen tabs stamped klike this with just "SRM" and a date and I used to own a full titled stamped tabbed buckle, that when I knew the actual name of the maker "SRM"

Thanks as usual, Ben, for the helpful information.

On which makers are easy/difficult to get hold off, my only source (Nash) doesn't really say much. Is this something you just pick up after a few years collecting or is there a sourcebook I might get that would guide me on this?

On the buckle being "entnazifiziert", I'm beginning to think I might stick to these. They're easier to get hold of, and cheaper (although I have seen a few obvious fake buckles (including a pigeon head) on eBay that have been denazified in an attempt to fool people). It also upsets my wife less than collecting unaltered ones would!

I used to specialise in Heer buckles so its just experience on getting hold of buckles and seeing common makers through to the hard to get hold of.

At the risk of replying to my own post, here is the fake denazified buckle I've just mentioned. It bears to be a JFS.
