Nice original buckle, at some point the silver paint has been added, as to when I do not know, it would have originally been green
Cheers
Ben
Thanks Ben!
The green paint can be seen underneath. It was not painted recently. I believe it was painted and worn this way. I will do an acetone test.
I will also take some more photos and post. All of the wear is located where you would expect it to be if worn with this silver paint on it.

Do you have a picture of your panzer wrap?
It is a reproduction and has been posted in post #26 of this thread.

There were period painted silver buckles. The rarest is the silver GB Heer with the white web tab. My friend Garry has a bunch of silver painted buckles in his collection.
I have aggressively scrubbed the reverse of this buckle with acetone and no silver traces were left on the swab. The only thing that happened was that the yellow tint was removed.
I have taken some more photos to show the wear on the silver finish from use. You can still see the green paint beneath the silver. The sleeve has wear from being attached to the belt keeper and the inside sides of the buckle itself show wear from where a belt has rubbed. The points of the prongs are polished from where they would rub on the inside of the belt.
