Help with Heer buckle

Hi, i was offered this unmarked alu buckle and was wondering if someone could iD it's maker?
The leather tab that comes with it is marked N&H 1940.



Should i buy or run away?

buckle and tab both original .

But i think buckle and tab matching not together , because the date 1940 .

N&H buckles are maked on the back side .:



Stiching looks post war made and tab shortened .
