I nice pickup. It is getting hard to find them with
unit markings. To bad the markings on the belt don't match the tab. It is hard to read the marking on the belt. Is it the same unit except for the first number?

Original belt and buckle Gary, do they both actually match? I see 3./N42 I on the buckle and 2/N42 on the belt, maybe I am wrong and its just the pics, also can you make out a maker mark on the tab?

    Cheers
    Ben

Ben you are correct the belt is marked 2/N42I and buckle is 3/N42I that's the way it came. As for the tab all I can make out is 1936in the middle of the circle. Kirby thanks for looking as you just read same # except for the 2 an 3 . Gary

The 2 and 3 means either Company 2 or 3. I can't remember but i think the N is for Supply or Signial. Other markings are like JR. is Infantry, AR. is Artillery, PZ. is Panzer. I have a bayonet book at home that will tell me what the N is for. 42 is the 42nd Regiment and the I means first equipment group.

Always the best feeling finding something like what you picked up at an antique shop. Sometimes it gets too hard to leave with just one item though haha. Anyway, awesome buckle and nice find!
