I recently picked up this piece of Russian "trench art" and thought you would like it as well.

It appears some Russian took a German buckle and de-nazified it by fitting a guards badge to the front via a rivetted on 2 pfennig coin! .......possibly also from the soldier he took the buckle from? ( why waste a Kopec ) He also scraped most of the pebbling from the front surface. Then he too may have fallen in battle - and the buckle lay in the Latvian soil for 70 years ....... we can speculate??

A nice relic - the maker originally seems to be L.U.F. ..... who was that?
    Cheers, Dan
