today arrived this interesting WH alu buckle .

I can only read 1939 on the leather tap ..........

But must be Schmöle&Comp. Menden 1939

Not the solderd belt catch .

IMO one of experimental variations from this maker .

Nice buckle Markus, but two questions:
All Schmole & Comp buckles that I know have the maker stamp crossed over the leather tab stitch and 1939 is a too late date for this buckle

i don't know more about .

But here another Variation with round ears like a steel buckle .

Now we have 1939 and 1940 Alu .

But would see a 1938 or 1937 ..........



I know also steel buckles from 1940 .....

Yes the 1940 dated alu buckles are often seen, but I haven't see a Schmole buckle with this maker stamp position, the eagle is a typical Schmole (Menden)one but I have doubts with the tab

Interesting buckle but I agree in that 1939 is a very late date for an early transitional buckle like that, I would have expected 35 or 36 on the tab to be honest
