    Default colonial officers tunic ! ? !

    Here's an interesting jacket.
I've been told it is a tropical colonial officers tunic. Any ideas?
Never seems to have had insignia attached, no shoulder board buttons or fixings. I could find no markings, but the removable buttons are Assman.

Where and when were these worn?

Hi, it is a Kriegsmarine Officers tropical tunic. It was cut the same as the "Rock M31". It was worn with rank shoulder strap and a pin on gilt metal breast eagle.

The same cut of tunic was also worn by Petty Officers but with cloth breast eagle.

Worn in all tropical regions. So it would have been seen all around the Med and Southern Russia etc.

I must admit the design of these looked really dated for a WW2 tunic.

    Cheers, Ade.

Yes, It does indeed look very dated !

It appears unissued, but could anyone give me an estimated value?

I've been thinking of dressing it up with correct breast insignia, an EK1
and a button hole EK ribbon.

( TR uniform collector I know says he would like it - says it's not a
    "big money" item..........! ! ! )

You'll laugh when I tell you how much I paid !

Hi, I cannot help on a value, as I cannot recall seeing one of these for sale recently.

Come on, how much did you pay? I bet it was cheap!

    Cheers, Ade.

It was at a thrift store, and sat there a couple of weeks........
I thought it might be Chinese Navy !

I bought it because the buttons looked nicely made.
    ( They're Assman, as I found out later ! )

    $7.99 - plus 15% tax of course...........

    What a bargain!

I did a search to see if I could find one for sale yesterday. But nothing came up.

    Cheers, Ade.

    'It is what it is.........'

The photo of this type of tunic that I had seen three years ago
had insignia, a belt with holster, etc. - it looked very nice.

I am tempted to make this one look similar.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
