Default 17th Infanterie Regt traditions cap badge

Traditions cap badges are an interest of mine.

I was kindly given this example by a friend of mine who lives in Berlin, who obtained several examples from the basement of an old tailors shop, along with many other items of insignia.

These badges are much faked, so care needs to be taken if buying one.

    Cheers, Ade.

I've always liked these. I've heard that those without the bisected nose are repros. Do we know if this is always true?

Hi Erich, there are several different versions of this badge, made at different times and by different makers. I have read the same as you, but I cannot say if it is a hard and fast rule. They are certainly faked that much I do know.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hello,
For most of the production, the nose was bisected, but you can find genuine examples that don't have it...
    Thanks

This totenkopf is much better than the other 2 more common ones. Love it!
