Hi Ben, the lettering is made of wire thread and is shiney.

The title you show is original, but obviously the rank pips do not belong on it.

I should have got it after reading your thread I was sure the lettering looked ok, but I wanted to make sure. It just sold for 60$ on ebay....
As a novice in German collecting I am very hesitant on purchases, sometimes you miss out on the good things but then you do not get burned.

I like the look of the Camel hair versions, what is the difference between the Camel hair and the machine woven versions in terms of history? Were the Camel hair variants used earlier perhaps?
