Army Athletic insignia differences?

Hello, I am pretty new to this stuff and I'm not even sure if this is the right thread to post this in. However I am looking into collecting some Athletic insignia cloth items, and noticed there seem to be at least two different looking eagles on the Army ones.




The faces are different. Can anyone tell my why they are different and what that means? Is one design older the the other or something? Any info would be appreciated.

Without having them in the hand they look ok, Many different firms made badges to a closely regulated system but no two firms interpretation is identical in either concept or production.

Hence todays hobby with all the variants of the theme available to collect?
