Black Herman Goring Cufftitle
Over 35 years ago, I purchased the war souvenir estate of a 101st Airborne pathfinder from his sister. The veteran died in a car accident in the early 1950's. Among his German souvenirs was a uniform removed Herman Goring cufftitle on a black base in lieu of the standard blue. There was also a pair of uniform removed Heer pattern panzer collar tabs with three Luftwaffe rank gulls below each of the totenkopfs. There was also a leather cigarette case that also had three gulls attached.
About ten years ago, I happened to mention this to an old collector friend. He told me that he also had a black HG title and it also came from a veteran of the 101st Airborne. I understand that the HG Division had a training facility in Holland and elements of it became involved in combat during Market Garden. These likely came from the Eindhoven area which was the drop zone for the 101st.
I am curious if any of the membership has ever run across or knows any information on these titles in black. Were they poxxibly Dutch manufacture? One of those puzzlements I have been curious to solve for a long time.
