Collar Tabs...

Article about: One of those small lamps for testing cash is probably a good investment. What would be a good price for these if original? I'll more than likely be wanting to sell them as they are not reall

    Default Collar Tabs...

I'm not sure what I've got here, they were with a lot of British insignia but my first thought was German. Any thoughts?

Hi, I have to admit to not being any sort of an expert on this type of item, but they "seem" wrong to me, but hopefully someone with real knowledge of these will give you a more positive opinion.

    Jerry

Certainly not "one lookers". As always, pics taken in natural daylight are needed. I would never bother with ones taken indoors.

    Cheers, Ade.

Here are some more pics I took today outside. I forgot to bring the first pair out with me today, so these 2 are different sets to the first, I have 3 pairs. The backing board on these two is different to the first set, a cross hatch patterned material.

    Hope they help...

Is UV a worthy test, or just misleading? I'm totally inexperienced with German cloth items of any kind

The backing material is known as Buckram.

These are fairly crudely made and are certainly not issue examples. The lack of any evidence of the mounting holes for the deathshead insignia or impressions thereof on the front is odd. But then again, this style of tab was sometimes worn without the insignia in place. It is a very complex subject matter.

The UV test is worthwhile but not conclusive in it's own right.

    Cheers, Ade.

More typical construction would be like this pair.
