I totally agree, in an expert opinion, I think it's a brown leather jacket! Just kidding, nice and heavy though looks like it'd be great for winter wear. I'd take it to a dry cleaner that specializes in leather, have it cleaned up and wear it. That's exactly what I did with my uncle's Leather trench coat I found in his attic in Bad Feilenbach back in '86', that one however he worn as a panzer officer and it came out beautiful. It's the BEST winter long coat I ever owned or worn and It was COVERED IN MOLD when I found it, a good leather guy can work miracles!

    Hi Guys,
I think its a Kriegsmarine Jacket like this:
    Lederjacke Kriegsmarine - Militaria Archiv
    or this:
    Lederjacke Kriegsmarine, 100,00 € - kpemig

It gives some variants of this KM Leatherjackets but the Inlet is all the same.
    Best Regards
    Nikolaus

    Hello,
Perhaps... even if my englsih is not, enough good to understand all the subtilities...
But in France, this jacket seems to be considered like a mix between two patterns... Nobody, even "experts", say it is a good or a fake...
And some of them have had it in their hands...
If Klinger had got picture of the same pattern, that would give an answer for everybody.
I just look for conctructive answer...
    Best regards.

I think if you look at the stamp closely, the first part seems to say "1947". The part that says "1947" also seems to be the same age as the stamp that says the size of the jacket. I would trust that stamp over the darker, newer looking one at the very bottom. Also, were German uniforms stamped with a full date like that? I know American stuff in ww2 was, but I don't think the Germans did the full date. I did some ebay searches based on Klinger's info and it seems like a Kriegsmarine pattern short jacket, but that Firemen and Police wore VERY similar jackets as well, so, it might be hard to tell. In any case, it's a great jacket, and I'd love to have one like it!
