DAK color schemes and RAL farben
I have come across this info and list of DAK color schemes and a full oveview of RAL colours. I have added a few bits and translated a bit also.
I guess most of you already are familiar with the DAK colours used, but I will post this anyway.
Amazing what you can do with your time in the middle of the night when you feel bored.
As a basis DAK used 4 colours:
1941 Afrikakorps Heeresmitteilung 1941 nr. 281.
RAL 8000 Grünbraun basis
RAL 7008 Grüngrau camo
1942 Africa/Crete Afrikakorps camo (Heeresmitteilung 1942, Nr. 315 of 25.03.1942)
RAL 8020 Gelbbraun basis
RAL 7027 Sandgrau camo
I believe that Every vehicle arrived in Africa already painted in the colour Dark Grey.
New colours and patterns for DAK were enrolled March 1942. The new DAK colours were also used in Crete, (Heeresmitteilung 1942, nr. 600). Water-soluble colours were often used on tarp. I also remember to have read that when they ran out of paint, they would use mud instead as supplies were scarce. Whether or not this info on mud is waterproof, I do not know.
From 1943 and onwards were used:
RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb Fabrik primer
RAL 1011 Dunkelgelb Fabrik primer
RAL 6003 Olivgrün Camo
RAL 8017 Schokoladenbraun Camo

I am going to move this to the Heer. Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine Forum as I believe that is a more appropriate place for it.

Sounds good to me, Bob.
