    Default DAK TROPICAL GREATCOAT (PoW)

Rare tropical (and that means DEUTSCHES AFRIKA KORPS!) greatcoat belonging to a soldier that became a POW while fighting in North Africa. The coat’s been made by one of the best known makers of tropical clothing ( Peek & Cloppenburg “BEHA” G.m.b.h.) and it’s lined with the same mustard fabric P&C used in the making of Heer tropical shirts.
There are other details that suggest that this coat belonged to a PoW other than the faintly readable PW stencilled in yellow paint on the back,i.e. the sleeve lining undone to hide personal belongings and a safety pin (original to the coat) hidden in the hem. These pins were a priced possession amongst soldier and even more priced amongst PoWs.
    Enjoy

Sorry for such a delay, Jean-Philipe!
A good tropical P&C coat with POW history - I like the untouched factor as I am a huge fan of worn items. I've had a few tropical coats, and currently have a DAK POW coat to a known individual/unit (see images).
Yes - rare items indeed - Thanks for sharing.

Very nice Mark, as always. Some people might call it greedy having 3 of them, but I call it dedication, and probably involved a lot of hard work to find them and a lot of money to buy them. I have never seen a real one in the 'flesh'.

The thread starter is a stunner and the hidden pocket is great to see.

Thank You, Jerry - not to mention 30 odd years of collecting...
Anyone who is the caretaker of a German tropical greatcoat is fortunate.

Does anyone know the nomenclature of the greatcoat worn by the mannequin in the seated position?

    Hi 'Heldentod',
That is a tropical wachmantel. I know of only one other worldwide, but there surely must be more out there.
