    Default Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht armband

Once again another item which is widely reproduced today. The example illustrated below is from my collection and has direct Veteran provenance. It was brought home by a Royal Navy Veteran in 1945.

This armband was a last ditch effort and was produced by printing.

They were produced by many different manufacturers and as a result they differ in small details to the design, shape to the eagles, swastika wreath, etc.

For once, crudity in construction does not always mean the item is a reproduction!

Note the colour of the thread used in this example to join the armband together

    Cheers, Ade.

Here is the one that our museum has in its collection. Is there any way to authenticate it? It was donated by the family of a private who said he found it in Germany.

Nice and original item, Ade. Now it's possible to collect Volksturm, easier to find. It's Normandy or AK!

When I was a teenager, I recall running in to dealers who had bought the armbands in stacks from vets. On a couple of occasions, I bought a couple of stacks of 20-30- from a couple of vets. I thought they woud be around for ever. Times have changed.
