    Any opinions? Nobody know?

Looks OK - do the eagle, logo and buttons glow ( careful of the radium paint if they do ) thats a good sign of originality.

In the first image the shape looks weird but from the other shots its clear that this is because it have been heavily vaulted, by hand, as the creases on the edge where it has been bent can be seen. The construction looks OK, and the eagle at least isn't the type found on the high quality Czech fakes or the summer tunic breast eagle type used on many cheap early fakes.
Chain is rusted so obviously steel, but what about the plate itself. Is it magnetic or Zinc ?
I lean towards liking it and would say it has a good chance of being an original.

I would say though that you can find far better examples in terms of condition. These aren't all that rare so if it is being offered to you to buy, I would caution against paying too much.

Rare enough to still command high prices in good condition. Have you seen what the Winkler site is asking for their 2 examples? Outrageous!

Yeah, but price doesn't necessarily equate to rarity. Weitze has NINE of them available at present, Winkler has five. Fourteen between just two dealers. Probably the reason they still have them is the insane prices being asked for these in Germany.

These were made in the tens of thousands. The last two I bought, just a couple of years back, came from the States and even allowing for shipping charges, currency exchange etc were less than half the price being asked now by German dealers and were superb examples.

That being said, if Bucklemann can get the one above for $300, its a steal at that price. I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Curious isn't it that 2 of the 'major' dealers with somewhat sketchy reputations now have 14 examples for sale. 3 years ago when I bought my gorget I had to search for months to find a decent offering.

From what I can see, it looks authentic enough, but it is in terrible condition-practically relic condition. It's missing it's back covering, is rusty as dirt and the glow in the dark lettering is corroded to the extent of almost being gone. Personally, I would much rather save up and get a decent shape one instead.

True, if offered to me even at $300 I would knock it back. I paid a little more than double that for my nice example which I consider money well spent if this is an example of what $300 will get you.
