Freikorps Baltenkreuz/Baltic Cross worn on Wehrmacht Uniform, 1940--Photo
I've been looking at photos all morning, and came upon this Landser wearing what appears to be a WWI Verwundetenabzeichen along with a Freikorps award, the Baltic Cross 1st Class...I didn't know that Freikorps awards were permitted on Wehrmacht uniforms...

Nice find that ! I have never seen this before either, but never say never in this hobby !
I wonder if he was a reversist re called for ww2 and as such was permitted to wear his old awards. I have a few pictures of reichswehr soldiers wearing freikorps insignia and awards so maybe the tradition carried on from them............?
Interesting picture either way.
Thanks Tony, I like your theory of the called-up reservist...this is supposedly taken in 1940 on the Westwall...
