The only I can help on this is the tag and it's West German and the patch is possibly a state shield for a police formation? It is original

Post war? Do you know an approximate year? How can you tell postwar?
In regards to the patch, I did read that the Flemish army had the Rampant Lion. No chance this is one of theirs?
I need to sell and any information for the buyer would be very helpful.
I'm not sure which one this is, but quite a few German states, and cities within those states, have a lion rampant as part of their coat of arms, so the insignia could well be for a police unit from a particular city or state? You're right that various other European states have the lion rampant as part of their national imagery, but as the coat appears to be of German origin the insignia very likely is too. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

i believe it is a bavarian police over coat blue and white are bavarian state collors green for police modern post war.
