Thought id share an M40 greatcoat in my collection whose original owner must have been a prisoner of French then UK/US troops . the breast has a hand painted ' PG ' (Prisonnier de guerre) in brown , then a more obvious stenciled 'POW ', to the back

Fantastic. A rare bit of kit, I'm sure. I would love to have this in my collection.
I am a fan of items that are rich in history.
When I was younger, I remember seeing these overcoats hanging on the racks in Goodwill....kids would buy them for 2 bucks and wear them as winter coats(which they were awesome for). William

Not normally seen. Very nice.
How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking?
Hi Rob, I too like that very much.
Cheers, Ade.

What a fantastic display item, really nice! My stepfather was Sargeant in the British army in north Africa at a POW camp that housed German POW's and he always said that the Germans there wore British jackets with POW stitched on the back in big letters. It's a great piece Rob, I would be pleased to have that mate, good score!
Fantastic historical item.
Thanks for showing.
Cheers.

Thanks for the interest guys . OB - i was lucky to get at £100 a few years back. The seller was toying with the idea of scraping off the paint ! Its really only recently that interest in POW kit has taken off. Maybe next will be recycled military kit for the Austerity period after 1945 ?
