Hi Peter, first off welcome to the forum!

The tunic is for a Private.

The lanyard should button under the shoulder strap to the tunic button.

The cap lacks the eagle. It is piped in red for an Artilleryman.

Thanks Ade - i appreciate all the information. Getting ready for a move and these items would be better appreciated by someone else. i have some US military clothes- heavy wool jacket, cap, socks, pants, sleeping bag, etc that was all in this trunk together. All My Best.
