Need help identifying the owner of this Major`s m36 tunic..
Hi, I recently purchased this high ranking officers tunic and I was hoping that it would be possible to identify the owner. Sadly all the awards are absent but I have purchased some awards to replace the ones missing, but I was hoping to be able to identify the gentleman so that the correct awards and ribbon bars can be replaced. I appreciate all the help I can get, thanks!
Major in Infantry Rgt 16, M36 tunic. Five buttons front. Tunic is in Good worn condition, showing wear and some slight stainings. It has sew-in dullgrey aluminum senior officers shoulder boards with white wool underlay, each one having a set of "16" cyphers. Officers dull aluminum collartabs on darkgreen basecloth, piped in white machinesewn to the stand and fall darkgreen collar.
A Bevo NCO/Officers Flatwire eagle on dark green backing is hand sewn to tunic above right breastpocket, eagle show matching wear as the rest of the insignias as well as the tunic.
On left breast pocket are loops for 3 awards and above are loops for a medium ribbonbar. Iron Cross 2´nd class as well as East medal ribbon in 2´nd button hole. On right breastpockets are loops for a German Cross.
Tunic is lined in light grey rayon lining with white cloth in the arms. The tunic has some stains inside, nothing major though. Tunic is in a quite large size! No namelabel inside pocket but tailorslabel at neck.

Nobody that can help me?
Please understand that there is not a paid staff waiting to answer your question in less than 24 hours. Hopefully, a member or moderator may be able to assist you with your request. However, this will likely take a lot of time for anyone to research. You may get an answer and may never get an answer. The task is complicated if the original owner of the tunic did not receive a DK but possibly a Spanish Cross or a foreign award. Good luck on your quest.

Hello BOB COLEMAN, I did not expect an answer in 24 hours!
I was hoping that somebody had a site or knew somebody that was interested in the 16. infantry regiment and could help me, maybe someone on the forum...
I was just trying to identify the owner of the tunic by getting it out there.
Someone on this forum may of had a photo album or papers from this regiments or something..
Some of the forum members might be interested in keeping track of the progress as I try to get the mystery solved... I will do research and post my candidates and so on and then discuss if it could be the owner..

I am not upset at all. As your second post came only 13 hours after the initial request, I was attempting to explain to you that information does not always flow as quickly as one may want. Secondly, yesterday was a national holiday in the USA so many members may not have been reading the Forum. As I previously mentioned, good luck in your hunt for information. A good starting place would be to locate a copy of the German Army rank list and cross reference names from that unit of appropriate rank with lists of DK recipients. Many years ago I had a copy of the 1944 rank list but foolishly sold it so I can not be of any help.

The photo of Oberst Johannes Arndt as Major
I think the tunic is quite similar
Any thoughts on this candidate?
I cannot comment on how likely Arndt is as the previous owner of that field blouse, but it is definitely not the one he is wearing in the above photograph.
There are several noticeable differences, for example the pocket flaps (note the different scalloping) or the front closure (The tunic worn in the photograph has a deeper overlap; note the distance from the buttonholes to the flap's edge.)
That alone does not eliminate Arndt, of course, as he would have had several field blouses.
