Strange, in your pics they look to be on brown felted wool similar to that used on German tropical greatcoat rank patches and I think they are for the KM. Even the "highlight" stitching is the same as you see on the white tunic. Though a star is used as rank by most navies, only the Germans to my knowledge used this type of backing.
Are they for sale?

Whatever its just an opinion.
They are on thick brown/green wool. It reminded me of WWI US uniforms hence the reason I posted them in the Allied section. Maybe I'll ask a mod to move this for me.
What era do these originate from WWII? Earlier? Later?
Thanks in advance.
Moved here for you

I have to be honest and say I have never seen these before and the similarities with WWII German tropical insignia might just be coincidental, I really don't know the answer. Maybe they are WWI US insignia and hopefully someone can confirm that. Very interesting and I look forward to a firm answer being provided.
