It's a tuff decision. Personally (i think) i would have placed the tabs and boards as i would like it more as completed. On the other hand it's nice to leave it as is coz that's how it was founded. Some people believe that it has more character this way.
You will have to decide mate.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
The seller definitely said he purchased the boards and litzen separately from the tunic, but did not say whether or not they were purchased from the same seller. My guess is not but I'll inquire anyway.
I'm honestly more concerned as to whether or not the litzen and boards are "proper" to this particular tunic. The trim on the boards does not match the metalic colored trim of the collars, which concerns me. What do you think?
This is not my first tunic. I have several (not all shown on my site)...
I have several, and growing, but this is indeed my first incomplete tunic (i.e. first where I'm having to decide whether or not to replace the boards and litzen).
Thanks for your input. I think I'd feel more inclined to leave it as-is if the boards and litzen were definitely original to the tunic, but they aren't. The seller said he bought them separately. What a tough decision. I guess in the end, it really doesn't make too much of a difference if I do it right and have them attached by someone who knows what they're doing. I can always take them back off if I was so inclined to do so (i.e. maybe I find a better matching set of boards and litzen later).
