    Hi guys,

Could anyone please tell me what kind of boots the Kriegsmarine wore with the blue jumper and pants uniform? Did they get the typical jack boots and low boots, or was there a special KM variant?

    Thanks,
    Mo

    Hi Mo,

The Kreigsmarine issued a type of rubber lace up overboot to the crews of U-Boats and other seagoing vessels. Here's a pair in the collection of the Imperial War Museum.

    Hi Mo,

The favourite choice seems to have been a canvas and leather deck shoe as can be seen in these photo's.

But they were also issued with (sorry I don't know all the exact German terms!) short shaft jackboots (stiefels?) M37 low boots, canvas ochre sports shoes and a black parade shoe similar to the classic Oxford design. A rubber type Wellington boot and also rubber waders were popular issue on U-Boats. Sorry for the small pic!

Note the burial party are wearing both types of boot mentioned above in the photo.

There may well have been other types of plimsolls and sports shoes worn, especially by submariners, that were unofficial.

    Regards, Ned.

Thank you Ned, great info! I am doing a Kriegsmarine sentry impression for an event this year at the Buffalo Naval Park and I want to know what kind of boots I need to buy. The jackboots are my favorite option so far...
