Hello all, I finally began collecting some German items and came across this Kriegsmarine Glass button at a military show I was at today. Thought it was a nice little item and decided to share with you all, although you've probably seen hundreds! This one specifically was taken from the wreck of a sunken German supply ship. The ship was sunk in 1944, and I have no other documentation on where it was found / from which ship. Button is dated 1942.

Apparently, it seems to be a hybrid of the metal buttons and the glass buttons. I wonder what made them go this route?
