A swordfish was a small battle unit award,mini-subs etc. But i've never seen one like that. Someone here may be able to tell you more. Stewy S
I was thinkin about something like that, is it too much to hope its original?
...it looks similar to the "Waffentaucher" Tätigkeitsabzeichen of the federal german navy. Kampfschwimmer and Minentaucher...

I can't help, but did stay in a holiday inn, while watching das boot. They have a logo like this on their boat and caps.
Regards
The DAS BOOT insignia is a styalised fat bodied swordfish which was made from a silvered thin metal i think this is the one associated with the U96. But thewre were a number of differant side cap motifs. The ones i have are as above , a long shark type and a wolfs head i think there were a couple of versions ,screwback and stitched via two holes but the only ones ive seen are the two hole versions, perhaps someone else could enlighten some more.
...it is the logo of the "Minentaucherkompanie" ( divers, specialized in sweping mines) of the "Bundesmarine" they exist since 1957...
