Here is a rather "salty" leather overcoat. Any thoughts about authenticity, rank and approximate value would be appreciated. Regards. L

The rank appears to be hauptmann,or captain in english.
JEDEM DAS SEINE
looks like an officers coat.. nice one!
The waffen color on the shoulderboard golden Yellow is for cavalry and as noted by zwerg, rank of hauptman/captain - Looks like the outer color of the coat is brown and the interior is gray - is there a dagger slit in the left pocket? Also the shoulderboards on these were removable and the coat would have a loop to slide in the shoulderboard tounge which looks like its sewn on here???

I am skeptical of this coat.
It looks green in colour to me. With it's silver colour screw-down
aluminum buttons and grey plastic buttons, I think it is
post-war Bundeswehr or Police..........

Thank you. Larry
Hi Larry, I like it. Looks like it was originally grey overal but the exterior has worn back more towards the natural brown leather colour.
I like the rayon lining.
Might be worth looking at the backs of the buttons for maker marks and occasionaly, dates.
Screw back shoulder board buttons, like Horst mentions, are usually found with removable boards, but are not unknown to be found used on sew in's too.
Cheers, Ade.
Ade: I'll take pictures of the back of the buttons. The exterior is grey overall. The shoulder boards are definitely sewn in.
Regards, Larry
