    Default Luft fliegerbluse & Cufftitle???

    Guys,

Need some ideas/help here. My friend has this nice Luft Signals Fliegerbluse. All looks OK from what I have been told as far as originality.

My question is that the right sleeve at one time had a cuff title. Any idea what it could be for? Or could it been one of just many.

Anything else you could tell me about the jacket is welcome but mostly focused on the cuff title for my friend.

    Thanks!

    Michael

    Nice original blouse.

The title could have been one of many different squadron titles.

    Ade,

Maybe my ignorance but would Signals be attached to a squadron? I would have thought it would have been pilots and flight crews.

    Again, maybe my ignorance

    Thanks

Hi Michael, yes, Signals were attached.

See here, for example for a fighter sqd organisation:

    Cheers, Ade.

I just can't help myself, ... Signals would have to be one of the least understood of all the services, as they are not one of the corps that was generally
in the spotlight, but without Sigs, then no incoming our outgoing messages of any kind would happen, this includes long and short range communications
(HF and VHF), teleprinter operations, telephone hook ups and maintaining the links, up to cryptography, encoding and decoding secret and top secret
messages between commands/units etc. Aircraft also used voice as well as Morse operators, and most of the traffic via aircraft to aircraft or to ground
bases would have generally been done with HF Morse, a skill that has died off these days, but was a special skill that needs specialist operators to perform,
and speeds of over 20 WPM would have been the norm.

Just on teleprinter operations alone, without this link no orders for rations, postings in and out, casualty reports, aircraft readiness etc., etc., so yes, Sigs were
a very important part of every units daily operations and survival.

Gawd, I am getting misty :-) just a ramble from another old Signaller....

    :-)

I will pass all this information on to my friend.
